art of the body
June 7–30
A visual exploration of the uniquely human desire to adorn and decorate ourselves.Humans have expressed their identity, social status, and sexual desirability through self-adornment for thousands of years. Through tattoos, piercings, scarification, make up and hair styling we continue to express our individuality.
The Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania is using this show at its’ Downtown Gallery to showcase several local tattoo and piercing artists and by doing so, actively encourage the community to become involved in diverse art experiences and expand the boundaries of what is traditionally thought of as art.
Art of the Body runs from June 7th-30th. The First Friday opening reception is on the 7th from 5-8 pm. We invite the community to come and meet the artists and join us on the Martin Luther King Plaza for entertainment from local dance groups.

Our Farm Tables Have a New Home
"The Axemann Brewery" will occupy a portion of the old Cerro Metal Plant, now called Titan Park, on Axemann Road in Bellefonte, PA.
Although converting the old factory building will take a lot of work, Owner Rod Stahl feels it will be worth the effort. “You could not build something like this today, with this stream-side presence. It’s a very high quality stream and the foundation wall of the building is the stream bank… So you’ve got a mix of this industrial feel in a very pure kind of environmental setting.”
Plans for the renovated space include a spacious indoor and outdoor seating area overlooking the stream, as well as an area for large games such as corn hole and shuffleboard. A second story will be used for private events and will feature an outdoor deck. The old factory windows will be moved from exterior walls to the area around the production floor, where patrons can watch and learn about the brewing process. Some of the seating and dining areas will feature large farm tables built by Crows Nest Arts for guests to gather, enjoy a beverage, and conversation.
The taproom will also feature themes centering around the history of the building as the former site of Titan Metal, Cerro Metal, and Bolton Metal, as well as the significance of water in Bellefonte. Sept. 1st is the expected date to open.
