Biographical Information
Janise Crow is a mixed media artist and metalsmith based in State College, PA. She creates sculptures, sculptural vessels and wearable art using hand-forged copper, reclaimed materials, and found objects. Her work explores themes of transformation, drawing parallels between the life cycles of landscapes, human experiences and spirituality, offering a space for contemplation and connection. With a rich background in metalsmithing, floral design, composite material fabrication, and custom wig design, her practice is deeply rooted in craftsmanship, material experimentation, and narrative expression.
Crow has exhibited extensively throughout Pennsylvania, earning recognition for her work, including a second-place award in the Make It Work, Recycled exhibition. Her work has been featured in multiple publications and is held in both private and institutional collections. Committed to education and community engagement, she teaches workshops and presents on the intersection of art, personal history, and transformation.
She is the founder of Crows Nest Arts Studio & Gallery in State College, where she continues to create, exhibit, and teach.
