Living with the Work: Connection & Reflection

Guidance for integrating transformed objects into your space and daily life.

Ways to Engage with the Work

This is the section for the purchaser or gift-recipient to find inspiration.

  • A Space for Stillness
Place a vessel on a low table or a dedicated shelf where it can be easily reached. Use it as a focal point for reflection or as a vessel to hold written intentions and small treasures found on your own path. It serves as a quiet anchor for a space intended for prayer or a simple appreciation of the beauty found in the transformed broken.

  • Artifactual Adornments
For wearable pieces, consider the act of putting them on as a way to ground yourself for the day. Let the weight and the story-driven symbolism of the materials and elements remind you of your own resilience and the shared human experiences that connect us all.

  • Visual Narratives
Position wall-hanging assemblages where shifting light can interact with their forms throughout the day. These pieces are meant to be lived with, offering a constant reminder of how forgotten histories can be reclaimed into something profound and new.

  • Artifactual Presence
Wearable pieces are designed to serve as both personal ornamentation and sculptural wall-hangings. By displaying them when not in use, you honor the histories of the repurposed materials, allowing these assemblages to act as visual memorials and reminders of the human experiences you resonate with most deeply.

The Vessel as an Anchor for Stillness

Invitations to engage with the beauty of the transformed broken.
A sculptural vessel settling into a sunlit space, serving as a tangible bridge to human experience and resilience.
A sculptural vessel settling into a sunlit space, serving as a tangible bridge to human experience and resilience.
Each vessel is meant to live with you—settling into your space and spirit in its own unique way. Whether on a wall or a windowsill, a desk or a shelf, let it become more than décor. Let it become part of your daily rhythm.

Here are a few ways people are using their vessels, paired with stories and subtle reflections. Think of these as invitations, not instructions:
1. A Space for Stillness & Morning Beginnings

Place your vessel somewhere you see it every morning—on your dresser, beside a chair where you read, or near the kitchen window where sunlight pours in.

Let it be the first thing you notice. A quiet reminder to pause.

Example:
"Every morning I sit with tea and watch the way the light hits the copper. It reminds me that each day is new, no matter how yesterday felt." – Anne, Chicago

You might:
  • Set a small folded piece of paper inside it with a word for the day
  • Drop in natural elements: a feather, acorn, dried lavender
  • Use it as a visual cue to take three deep breaths before beginning your day

 2. A Companion in Reflection or Prayer

Let your vessel hold space for your thoughts, questions, or longings. Write them on slips of paper. Let them rest there for a while—then release them, return to them, or watch them transform.
Example:
"During a tough season, I wrote down things I couldn’t say out loud. My vessel held them like a friend might. Later, I realized I wasn’t carrying them alone." – David, State College

You might:
  • Set it near where you journal or meditate
  • Use it to collect small papers with prayers, intentions, or memories
  • Sit in silence with it—letting your gaze and breath settle together
“Let what comes, come. Let what goes, go. Find what remains.”

 3. A Story-Rich Gift or Heirloom

These vessels aren’t just things to own. They’re stories to share. Giving one as a gift is a deeply personal act—something that says: I see your story. I honor it.

Example:
"I gave one to my sister after her divorce. She said it was the first thing in her home that made her feel whole again." – Melissa, Vermont

You might:
  • Add your own note inside with a personal message
  • Include it in a small ceremony of closure or celebration
  • Pass it on one day to someone who needs it more

4. A Meaningful Accent for Home or Workspace

Sometimes, a vessel simply becomes part of the visual language of a space. It draws the eye. It makes people pause. It adds story to a corner that felt empty before.

Example:
"People always ask me about it when they visit. I tell them it’s a reminder that the best parts of me came from the broken bits." – Rafael, Portland

You might:
  • Display it beside a stack of old books, a favorite photo, or natural objects
  • Let it shift with the seasons—tuck leaves in during fall, blossoms in spring
  • Create a small nook just for it—a space that’s intentionally calm

Beyond the Object

Exploring the stories and current inspirations behind the work.
The journey of each piece doesn't end when it leaves the studio; it continues in the way you choose to live with it.
