Many of my pieces are sculptural. They are as beautiful to display as they are to wear.
Some are abstract representation of things around us and others are more obvious.
Each element is purposefully chosen for its aesthetic sense of colour, shape, form, texture, movement, and symbolism.
For me, jewelry is an artistic way to express ones self on any given day therefore I create from those places within me. You will find an eclectic selection of whimsical and fun, full of energy and color while others are more serious and refined, political and historical,
I work many media types a including vintage jewelry. I enjoy using reclaimed, found objects, metals, fibers, and organics materials because they have a story of their own which speaks to me. Then I am able to give it new life which can be valued for its intrinsic beauty.
Miriam Haskell, a vintage costume jewelry designer pioneer, inspired the cage work in many of my larger necklaces & brooches. I am preserve the integrity of each element and leave it in it's original state, which increases it's value.
I like to challenge the viewer to take a fresh look at the seemingly mundane objects and see something more. Like looking at a painting, or sculpture there is more to it than what you first see.
