Sterling Silver Care
A few pointers to keep your jewelry looking fresh and new:
- Avoid wearing in the shower, pool, spa, or the ocean.
- Put your jewelry on last to avoid getting cosmetics and perfumes on them.
- Clean most gemstones in commercial jewelry cleaning solution, but don't submerge pearls, emeralds, opals or anything glued in or inlaid.
- We also do not suggest regular polishing as microscopic amounts of metal are removed each time, try soap and water method to clean and shine.
- Many matte finishes can be restored with a very soft rub using a Scotch-Brite pad (again, be careful not to scuff softer gemstones.)

EASY CLEANING
DRY SILVER IS HAPPY SILVER
- Best not to wear silver jewelry in the shower, swimming pool, hot tub, or hot springs.
- Interesting fact: pure water by itself doesn't damage sterling silver, but most of the water we're exposed to in our daily lives is not purified. Chemicals and contaminants in the water can result in tarnished and dull-looking silver.
- Chemicals in lotions and perfumes can also cause your jewelry to tarnish. Apply them first, let them dry, and then put your jewelry on. This alone can make a HUGE difference in your silver's luster.
MAINTAIN PROPER STORAGE
- It's best to store silver in individual, air-tight bags with anti-tarnish properties. These types of bags keep air exposure out and keep the shininess and brilliance intact.
- Air exposure can cause tarnishing your delicate silver. Don't just leave it lying on your nightstand or in an open jewelry chest.
POLISHING SILVER JEWELRY
- Silver is delicate, and, despite our best efforts, it can still get dirty. Fortunately, sterling silver care can be as easy as a fast rubdown.
- To do this, use a simple microfiber cloth or special jewelry cloth (not paper towels or toilet paper) to clean your goods.
- Focus on maintaining long up-and-down strokes to clean the jewelry. Be sure to use different parts of the cloth to avoid spreading any tarnish. Do not use circular motions here, as it can actually make the tarnish or dirt worse. Be sure to avoid polishing any part of the jewelry that is intentionally oxidized/antiqued.
- For more complex or tight, detailed areas, try a Q-tip. It'll get into every nook and cranny you need
EASY CLEANING
- Are you storing your jewelry correctly and polishing it, but still looking for a greater shine? Needing just a bit more brilliance? Check out some of our favorite, tried-and-true cleaning methods.
- DISH LIQUID AND WATER
- No fancy cleaning methods needed for this option. Simply rinse the jewelry off in the same way you would clean your own hands, lightly rubbing the silver. Q-tips are helpful to get into small areas. Then completely dry with a soft microfiber.
- WATER AND BAKING SODA METHOD
- You will need 2 parts water to 1 part baking soda (use a bit more water if the jewelry has delicate features). Stir into a paste. Use an old toothbrush or cleaning wand to apply this DIY cleaner in gentle motions and movements.
Size & Measuring

Bracelets
MEASURING YOUR WRIST SIZE:
STEP 1: Measure your wrist with a flexible tape measure or a strip of paper just below the wrist bone, where you would normally wear the bracelet.
STEP 2: If you are using a plain strip of paper, mark your size with a pen or pencil then use a ruler to measure the length. That would be your wrist size.
STEP 3: To find your bracelet size, just add your wrist size with the appropriate measurements below.
FITTING/COMFORT STYLE ADD INCH(ES) TO WRIST SIZE
Snug Fit: Add 1/4" to 1/2"
Comfort Fit: Add 3/4" to 1"
Loose Fit: Add 1 1/4"
Do you want a snug or loose fit? That varies from each individual. If you are buying a delicate bracelet with a thin chain, we suggest doing a snug fit. Most other bracelets should have a comfort fit except when buying large or thick cuffs or bangles. It's best to buy large bracelets with a loose fit so you don’t feel like you are suffocating your wrist.

Metals
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PLATED, filled and sterling silver or gold?
- Plated is usually a metal such as brass, copper, nickel or any other type of metal covered with electroplated with sterling silver or gold.
- Sterling silver and gold has the same metal throughout (all sterling or gold). It is also the best option for people who have allergic reactions to metal jewelry.
- Stainless steel stainless steel has an attractive muted grey color that is finished in shiny or matte. Unplated, it is an excellent alternative for wearers with allergies and sensitivity to base metals such as copper or brass. Stainless steel may contain some nickel, but it's generally considered hypoallergenic for most people.
DO YOU OFFER NICKEL-FREE JEWELRY?
We get our jewelry from hundreds of suppliers all over the world. The majority of our jewelry is nickel-free, but it is not guaranteed unless stated explicitly in the item description. However, many cases of allergic reactions are actually caused by the cleaning solutions used rather than the metal. Safely check a cleanser by dabbing a q-tip into it and testing a small area on your skin.
